What a lovely day this has turned out to be. The sun is shining, Virginia is one of my favorite states to drive through, and we are Richmond bound. It’s one of those days where it’s blindingly bright outside with a mostly blue sky but somehow snowing at the same time. The wind is blowing so hard the van is shaking from side to side, but sitting in the front seat I feel nothing but safe inside our gigantic white whale of a van, the unofficial 7th band member of The Broadcast.
Right now we’re debating where to stop for lunch. We’ve somewhat successfully avoided fast food chain restaurants even though Rich can’t stop talking about the McRib. So far he’s described it in detail, right down to the processed shape it takes on right before they fry it to its mcribliciousness. Strangely enough, he’s never actually eaten one, therefore his descriptions are based purely in fantasy. I’m currently pushing to rock the mom and pop diner, but we’ll see how things pan out.
Can’t believe the tour is almost over. What I can’t believe even more is that we’ve already started the preliminaries for another trip up the coast in April following SXSW and our Florida escape tour in February.
It’s exciting to be able to take the time off to visit our families before the craziness of 2011 begins. I will oh so appropriately be ringing the new year in with my best friend at the Motor City Casino in downtown Detroit. Something about that feels so right.
See you tonight Richmond!
