Music is a platform for communication that allows its listeners to relate and connect on a higher level. Regardless of her choices in her personal life, Amy Winehouse left a mark on the music industry that will continue to effect and influence music lovers for decades to come. She fulfilled a responsibility to this world more than most people who walk through their lives sober.
A flame that burned bright and strong, her work was a reflection of the turmoil she experienced within her heart and mind.
Often times we overlook the personal element that is involved in a musician writing music. The pain the love and struggle is something the artist is experiencing so deeply that only through creating music to surround it and cradle it, does the feeling begin to (hopefully) heal.
Unfortunately Amy Winehouse was never able to battle those demons, and her addiction consumed her.
I can only hope, they’re throwing her one hell of a party in rock star heaven right now.
